Issue

There is no Part 2 Ed 2 2019 TISSUES Section but I am sure you can work on that!

The main Contents section on page 2 is not very helpful when wanting to look up a specific term ... we are faced with scrolling/searching and often leads to users guessing terms or inventing new terms

MU is defined as specifically CT/VT, as is SIU for specifically switchgear, but these days we really need a RIO for general "binary IO" or a Process Interface Unit PIU as an "all encompassing" term for a device that has various binary/analog inputs and outputs

It has been a long standing misunderstanding that Process Bus is generally thought of as only CT/VT or at least as only Sampled Values. It would be helpful to officially define Process Bus and Station Bus

Proposal

please add the next level to the index page so it shows definition headings for easier look up of what is a defined term
3.1 abstract communication service interface ACSI
3.2 abstract data model for communication
3.3 access point
....

To help eliminate confusion, please rationalise to one entry (with sub reference heading numbers if there are actual different meanings)
3.40 device
3.41 device
3.42 device
3.43 device
and
3.108 merging unit
3.109 merging unit
and
3.146 protocol
3.147 protocol
and
3.150 protocol implementation conformance statement PICS
3.151 protocol implementation conformance statement PICS
and
3.153 redundant redundancy
3.154 redundant redundancy
and
3.185 system configuration language Implementation Conformance Statement SICS
3.186 system configuration language Implementation Conformance Statement SICS

Add something along these lines to be determined by the WG
Remote Input Output RIO
a device for converting physical signals to GOOSE/MMS/SV (with the exception of CT/VT inputs via MU) or vice-versa

Process Interface Unit PIU
a process equipment interface device incorporating a combination of both MU and RIO for converting analogue and status signals to GOOSE/SV/MMS or vice-versa

Process Bus
The specific part of the facility communication network connected physically or by other means (e.g. wifi) to process equipment at least at one end and carrying any one or more GOOSE, MMS or MMS type messages

Station Bus
The facility communication network connected physically or by other means (e.g. wifi) to either station level and/or bay level devices and carrying any one or more GOOSE, MMS or MMS type messages

Discussion Created Status
Need to add a tad to the suggested Station Bus definition to clarify:

", but excluding network segments otherwise referenced as as Process Bus."

Perhaps to also be totally clear, we need to also add definitions for "Process equipment/devices"
"Bay devices"
"Station devices"
