IEC 61850 was released in 2002 as
"Communication networks and systems for substations"
In 2010 this changed to
"Communication networks and systems for power utility automation"
These are arguably too restrictive and misleading in referencing "power utility" which seemingly excludes major industrial power systems, especially as the LNs definitions now include all sorts of sensors and data structures for metering, batteries etc that can be applied to all manner of smart grids, through to electric vehicles, wind farms, solar systems and hydro stations.
The emphasis on "Communication networks" also suggests a "mere protocol" focus
Proposal
My proposal is to change the title to:
"Automation and information system engineering process, structure and communication mechanisms for electrical power systems"
or just
"Automation system engineering process, structure and communication mechanisms for electrical power facilities"

Status
I think this question hasn't been related to original tissue (what this tissue data base is created for). I believe the question should be assigned to IEC TC57 WG10 meetings. Therefore I would like to set it to blue.
