Issue

We don't understand why the attribute type fot SqNum is different for Buffered and for Unbuffered Report Control Blocks.

Proposal

We would like to propose using the same size for the sequence number field in Buffered Reports and Unbuffered Reports.

changed to green. The 7-2 clauses for reporting and logging ( Edition 1) can be found at ftp.sisconet.com. Username=wg10revision pw: iec61850. Passive FTP must be used for retrieval. 16 Feb 07 In Force (green)

My opinion is that the unbuffered report should not be changed. I believe that no change is required for either block.

If a change occurs for either, this will create interopability problems for no good reason.

The FDIS of 7-2, Table 23 (BRCB class definition) had "SeqNum" as "INT8U". There appears to have been an editing error during the DIS preparation (when the term SeqNum was changed to SqNum). Therefore common size should be INT8U to match the FDIS versions. 24 Oct 06 Ballot Period
Since we curently do change the buffered report model (and therefore the next model has backward incompatibility with the current one) but haven't changed anythng to the unberffered report model, I'd prefer to have UINT8 instead (i.e. the one of the unbuffered report model). 08 Jun 06 Ballot Period
This is definitely an error and will be fixed. Common size will be UINT16. 12 May 06 Ballot Period
