In Edition 1 of IEC 61850, it was possible to extend CDCs. This was used in IEC 62271-3 to create Name plate Information for switchgear by extending the CDC for Name Plates. In Edition 2, it is not allowed anymore to extend CDCs outside of the IEC 61850-7-3 Namespace. Therefore, a new possibility is needed to define Domain specific nameplate Information. Nameplate Information is purely descriptive Information. IEC 62271-3 created a number of new data attributes within the CDC DPL of the type Visible String to represent that Information. Since this is not allowed anymore in Edition 2, a similar Approach can be, do create new data objects within the Logical node that models the primary Equipment. For These data objects, we need a commmon data class where the core value is a visible string. The value is not writable and now Quality and timestamp are required. To be in line with the other nameplate Information, the FC should be DC
