Clause: 9.2.2

Paragraph:

Category: No impact on this part

Issue

It is specified « The domain name shall be the name of the logical device instance. »
In part 7-2 §8.1.2.1 , « The attribute LDName shall unambiguously identify a LOGICAL-DEVICE within the scope of a system. »
From part 6 §8.4.2 in case of « product related naming » it is specified that LDName=IED Name + Ldevice Instance

The sentence used in part 8-1 refers to « name of the logical device it mean exactly for MMS domain name ? instance » .

Example :
IED=myIED
LD instance= Control
Solution 1 : MMS domain = Control
Solution 2 : MMS domain = myIEDControl

If solution 2 is prefered and become mandatory, this will cause big issues for small IED server which would not have modelling configuration facility. Their MMS domain name are constant and thus would become not conformant. Such a situation is not acceptable. IEC61850 shall cover a large range of devices (from minimum to very complex ).

Proposal

Add an explicit rule and example which respects the solution 1.

Montreal: -> not accepted, because solution 1 does not comply with the basic concepts of IEC61850. 16 Mar 05 In Force (green)
