Clause: 6.2.4 Instantiating a BAP application template

Paragraph: General

Issue

BAP templates contain ProcessResources “to help the user during the instantiation of a template by providing an indication of the elements to be used to bind the template to existing elements of the system. This template may be a function template or an application template (BAP).” (extract from IEC 61850-90-30, clause 9.2)

These ProcessResources may represent elements of the system that are shared across multiple BAP templates or ASD files. Therefore, it should be stated that ProcessResources may be shared between BAP templates, and that they can be merged during the instantiation of an ASD in order to allow the reuse and mutualization of ProcessResources among several Applications.
It would also avoid resolving a given ProcessResource — and creating the corresponding "Resource" instances — repeatedly in the same way across multiple BAP templates.

Proposal

In the table “Actions to perform during the instantiation process”, line I7 describes the step “Merge functions shared by multiple applications.”

This step should be updated (or a new step created) to indicate that ProcessResources may also be shared between Applications and, consequently, that they may need to be merged during the BAP instantiation process.
