Issue
Last sentence states :"For the physical connections defined in IEC 61850-8-1, the types and corresponding values as shown in Table 39 shall be used"
Table 39 shows "recommended values":
"Plug RJ45 for electrical plug
ST for bajonet plug (optical glass)"
So if values are only "recommended" it is allowed, considering the mentioned restrictions, to extend and use own type eg. "LC" for Ptype plug.
Proposal
Maybe common used type "LC" can be added to the list.

Yes, it is allowed to extend with user defined type codes to allow progress in technology, although for common understanding it is recommended to use the recommended codes if they fit to the really used plug types.
Adding more recommendations is an Edition 3 issue. |
