Paragraph: 5.10.8

Category: Issue for edition 3 of this part

Issue

Thickness of ice is needed in order to use MMET for measurement on wind turbines, and may be useful also for other applications. This data is inlcuded in the wind power models in Edition 1 of IEC 61400-25-2 but if included in MMET this LN class can instead be used for wind power applications.

Proposal

Add data object Ice (MV) with description "Thickness of ice" to MMET.

One question about the semantic: how you can measure the thickness of ice (MV) or is it calculated? Do you have the ice thickness in your mind what is on water of lakes or similar? Than I would understand that it belongs to MMET. But if it is on the blades or on other equipment, may be better to use another S-Node (supervision and monitoring). By the way, there is a DO IceCvr (Ice cover in weight)- extension in MMET of )90-3, what is also not clear for me? 06 Mar 13 Discussion (red)
