Paragraph: Table 45

Category: Issue may impact interoperability of implementations of Edition 2

Issue

The data type mapping of a floation point is defined as "a number with or without a decimal fraction (999,99999)." For very large or very small numbers this format is not convenient.

Proposal

Allow the engineering format for floating points as well. (+9,9999999e+999)

Discussion Created Status
Accepted, formulation:
A number with or without a decimal fraction (+-999.99999), or with an exponent (+-9.999999e+-999)
Note that in general the lexical format is defined in http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/RECxmlschema-2-20010502

Accepted. Observe that the canonical presentation uses E instead of e. All XML schema defined presentations of double shall be allowed. However, this might create backwards compatibility problems. 01 Mar 12 Discussion (red)
