Issue

In table 14
VISIBLE STRING 35 Bytes ASCII Text, Null terminated
but in MMS
8.1.2.5 VISIBLE-STRING
The IEC 61850-7-2 VISIBLE-STRING shall map to a value represented by a MMS variable
length MMSString. The maximum size of the MMS visible-string shall be the size as specified
in IEC 61850-7-2 and IEC 61850-7-3.
The character set, of MMSString, shall be constrained to ISO646String.

1: It's Encoding for the basic data types is too short! information will lost.
2: It's likes that SV can transport string, In fact, It is't necessary.
likewise OCTET STRING, UNICODE STRING, ObjectName,ObjectReference too
although it is not used in SVM now, but please delete or fix these.

Proposal

The data of SV is not include string. delete or restrict it

This is to a certain part related to the question (Tissue) which attributes of which FC are allowed in GOOSE and SV services. Up to now data with FC=EX and DC are not allowed, thus strings could only come from the control blocks (e.g. svId). However, now we also have VSS... 14 Jun 12 Discussion (red)
