Issue

Herb Falk raised the question on "How are we going to note that a BRCB is an edition 1 BRCB or edition 2 BRCB?

Proposal

There are at leat two possibilities:

1. Add an attribute "Version"
2. Add name space attributes as we do for CDCs in 7-3

I would prefer solution 2. This would allow to use the same concept in CDCs and control blocks.

Discussion Created Status
Control Blocks within an Edtion 2 IED, shall be after edition 2 defition.
The Name Space used in the modeling indicates if the IED is an edition 1 or edition 2 IED.

I agree with Wolfgang. The better question is should the Server have a capability that shows ED.1 and ED.2 in the future. 18 Feb 08 Discussion (red)
From my point of view this is not necessary. We just have an extension concerning additional server level behaviour. A Ed.1 client will not use it, an Ed.2 client knows it and can use it. If this additional feature is not there, this is immediately detected by the Ed2 client, and he can not use it. So, no problem at the server side - just Ed.2 clients have to handle both kinds of control blocks.
By the way, this does NOT belong into the Tissue DB, because it is an Ed.2 issue....
