Clause: 7.3.8

Paragraph:

Category: Issue for edition 2 of this part

Issue

CDC BCR values are specified as INT128, but embedded IED processors generally do not support data types greater than 64 bits.
Most usage of BCRs need far fewer than 32 bits. However, MMTR.TotWh expresses energy accumultors as signed watt-hours which requires more than 32 bits.

Refer to (7-2) tissue 580 for additional information

Proposal

Change attribute type of actVal and frVal of BCR from INT128 to INT64.

Discussion Created Status
WG10 Meeting - Fredericia.
Accepted to remove the INT128 and replace it with INT64.

see comment on tissue 580. I would suggest not to do any changes for backwards compatibility. An IED that only supports 64 bits, can declare that in its PIXIT and the remaining bit will stay 00. The client, from the PIXIT of the IED, knows, that he can ignore the remaining bit. 15 Nov 07 Discussion (red)
