Clause: 17.1.1.1

Paragraph: Table 38

Category: Issue for edition 2 of this part

Issue

The use of the data-reference Optfld should be removed as an option. In reports, it only increases bandwidth utilization and adds no additional benefit to the client.

Proposal

Make the current data-reference Optfld bit reserved and indicate that regardless of the value set, no data-references should be returned in the Reports.

This is an Edition 2 issue.

Discussion Created Status
Possible solution could be to declare data-reference DEPRECIATED, thus discourage it's usage, and remove it in some future edition. This is common practice in some standards and interface definitions.
To maintain consistency, the same has to be applied in Part 7-1->14.2

We are currently using the 'data-reference Optfld' bit for 'ReportControl' in the Ed.1 version. Suppress it would raise some interoperability issues. 14 Aug 07 Not Applicable
Changed to blue since it would potentially create interoperability problems. 16 Feb 07 Not Applicable
