Paragraph: Table 14 / 2nd paragraph

Category: Issue for edition 2 of this part

Issue

The Logical Device Zero (LD0) - defined in IEC 61850-7-1 - requires a minimum of two LNs: LLN0 and LPHD.

The definition of LD in 61850-7-2 clause 8 defines a minimum of 3 LNs.

Proposal

Add some definition/note that the requirement of "LogicalNode [3..n]" is not applicable for LD0. LD0 is a special LD with just [2..n].

Revised description:

8.1.2.3 LogicalNode [2..n]

The attribute LogicalNode shall identify a LOGICAL-NODE that is contained in a LOGICAL-DEVICE.

Each LOGICAL-DEVICE shall have one and only one LOGICAL-NODE-ZERO (LLN0), one and only one LOGICAL-NODE-PHYSICAL-DEVICE (LPHD), and it may have one or more other LOGICAL-NODEs.
NOTE The LLN0, LPHD, and other logical nodes are defined in IEC 61850-7-4.

The Attribute is named "LogicalNode" (singular); should it be "LogicalNodes"? (plural)

Accepted. I would even allow all LDs with two LNs, e.g. if they are just proxy to supervise other IEDs. 25 Aug 06 Discussion (red)
