1702   Limit LTRK to one instance on a server

Created: 19 Jun 2020

Status: In Force (green)

Part: Part 7-2 (2020; Edition 2.1)

Links: #1701 New DO required for routable GOOSE and SMV service tracking

Page: 86

Clause: 14.1

Paragraph: 14.

Issue

Issue has been raised by Adhoc Task Force Communication Supervision during the teleconference 18th of June 2020.
It is not expected to have several instances of LTRK in the server. However, this is not state clearly in the standard. Client IED should be able to find all service tracking objects in the same instance of LTRK on the server.

Proposal

Make a clear statement in 7-2 to indicate that at most one instance of LTRK shall exist in a server.

Move to mustImplement:

Replace in 14.1 the first sentence of the second paragraph with:

For a given Server, there shall be at most a single data object instance (tracking data object) available in the object directory for each kind of service that will mirror the value of the service parameters and its acceptance by the server.
In addition to a single object that is tracking the given Server, there may be more than one single data object instance in a IEC 61850-90-2 proxy environment, but the additional data objects are mirroring the objects tracking the proxied servers and they do not track services of the given Server.

For a given Server, there shall be at most a single data object instance (tracking data object) available in the object directory for each kind of service that will mirror the value of the service parameters and its acceptance by the server.
In addition to the server own tracking, there may be more than one single data object instance in a IEC 61850-90-2 proxy environment, but the additional objects are mirroring the tracking of proxied servers and do not track services of the given Server.

In principle, I agree with the proposal. Nevertheless we still have the 90-2 use cases. In a gateway environment there probably may be more than 1 LTRK, probably up to 1 per proxied Server.

14.1 General service tracking specifies:
For a given Server, there shall be at most a single data object instance (tracking data object) available in the object directory for each kind of service that will mirror the value of the service parameters and its acceptance by the server.

Proposed changed:
For a given (proxied or not-proxied) Server, there shall be at most a single data object instance (tracking data object) available in the object directory for each kind of service that will mirror the value of the service parameters and its acceptance by the server. All data object instances (tracking data objects) for a given (proxied or not proxied) Server are located in a single LTRK logical node instance.
