Paragraph:

Category: Issue for edition 3 of this part

Issue

Will it be possible to add a sub-type attribute to the ConductingEquipment element so as to uniquely identify all types of Circuit Breaker (CBR) like circuit-breaker in general, circuit-breaker fitted with a (thermal) overload and (magnetic) short-circuit trip relay, drawout circuit-breaker etc? Some SCT tool can graphically present the differences of CBRs, but current standard makes it impossible to reverse the single line diagram back to the tool using SSD only. This is also the case for DIS.

Proposal

Add an optional sub-type attribute if the primary apparatus device codes indicated by scl:type is group indicator.

Discussion Created Status
To be discussed for Edition 3 22 Mar 17 In Force (green)
There are also other reasons to add subtypes, like System specification in general, harmonization with CIM etc. Therefore this issue and how to handle it in detail should be taken up in Edition 3.
As long as only one SCT tool is handling this, also private extensions of SCL can be used already now.
