Category: Issue for edition 2 of this part

Issue

There is an ambiguity of the resulting LDName from
the hierarchy specified in Part 6. Part 7-2 restricts the size of the LDName to 32 characters. This restriction needs to be reflected in the text of Part 6.

Proposal

The resuling LDName (e.g. IED + LDInst) must be less
than or equal to 32 octets. Additionally, I would like to propose restriction in the names from excluding "/" , ".", and "$". This is currently an open discussion item on 7-2 as well. (see 7-2; comment #47)

NEGATIVE vote by Juan Torres: Needs more explanation and discussion in WG10 12 May 05 Future Improvement
To 'final proposal': the new LD name attribute should according to the rules be named ldName instead of LDName; further, the additional restriction on ldInst will still be necessary in the case that ldName is not specified and the default ldName= iedName+ldInst is used. 08 Apr 05 Ballot Period
Final Proposal:
The introduction of the attribute LDName allows the content / length checking.
Checking of the characters will be added in the schema.
The LDName is restricted to 64 octets. The extension up to 64 has been introduced to MMS through IEC61850-8-1 Annex G
Tissue in 8-1 and 7-2 will be addded.
