Clause: 8.1.2.2

Paragraph:

Category: No impact on this part

Issue

According to part 7-4 and 7-3 the object attributes “Mod.stVal and Mod.ctlVal” are specified as INT32.
Part 6 declares these attributes as datatype ENUMERATED.
In 8-1 (clause 8.1.2.2) ENUMERATED datatypes shall be assigned to the minimum size of MMS data types required to contain the maximum standardized value.

Proposal

This contradiction between part 7-3/7-4 and part 6 and 8-1 shall be solved.

Discussion Created Status
At the WG 10 meeting in Fredericia / Denmark in February 2008, the TISSUE was revisited. The proposed solution with the CtxInt is akward and not easy to understand. Therefore, it was proposed to solve the problem really at its source and add new common data classes.

The solution for the Edition 2 CDV will be as follows:
- The CDCs INS, INC and ING will have INT32 for stVal, etc.
- New CDCs ENS, ENC and ENG will be introduced that will have ENUMERATED as data type for stVal, etc.

That requires a change in 7-3 and changes in 7-4 (where we have the references to the CDCs) as well as in 7-2 (delete CtxInt) and 6

GoE-meeting 19.10.04 (agreed by Herb and George):
Final Proposal
CtxInt shall be defined as a generic data type in 7-2: either as an Int32 or as an ENUMERATED depending on the context.
The definition of the attributes stVal, ctlVal, subVal in the CDC INS/INC is changed from Int32 to CtxInt.
In 7-4, the enumerations lead to set the CtxInt to ENUMERATED.
Therefore no change required in 8-1. because ENUMERATED are already mapped.
