Clause: 8.2.1.3, 9.2.2.3

Paragraph:

Category: Issue may impact interoperability of implementations of Edition 1

Issue

According to part 7-2 (clause 8.2.1.3 GetLogicalDeviceDirectory and clause 9.2.2.3 GetLogicalNodeDirectory) the service request can return a response + with an empty list. Acc. to 8-1 these services are based on the MMS service GetNameList, but acc. to the MMS grammar this service does not allow to send a negative response if a request is made to a non-existing domain.
What shall be the standardized behaviour?
- GetNameList respond with an empty list
- or Confirmed Error-PDU “object-non-exist”

Proposal

A note shall be added in 8-1 to fix this item.

The right reaction shall be supported by the stack.

Discussion Created Status
The GetLogicalDeviceDirectory response- should be an MMS GetNamedList response+ with moreFollows=FALSE and a NULL List.

If the GetNamedList service is issued for a Domain scoped object and the Domain does not exist, then a Confirmed-Error response with object-non-existent shall be returned.

The clause 8.2.1.3 does not exist in 8-1. The relevant 7-2 clause is 8.2.1.4 (response-).

Clause 9.2.2.3 does not exist in 8-1. The relevant clause is 11.
