Clause: 9.3.10

Paragraph: 2nd bullet

Category: Issue for edition 2 of this part

Issue

Subject text at present reads: "The datSet attribute must contain a valid data set reference, or be missing completely. A referenced data set shall reside in LLN0, like the control block."

The text here should specify the attibute value be a name, not a reference. This to avoid conflict with Table 27 which requires dataSet to be "The name of the data set ..." Also, to avoid confict with the schema in normative Annex A which defines datSet in tControl to be type="tDataSetName", which is defined to be a 32 charcter base="tAcsiName", and tAcsiName does not allow the ampersand, slash or dot required in a DataSetReference by part 7-2 clause 13.3.6.2.

As the dataq set is in the same LN as the CB, sufficient information is available to construct a DataSetReference where required from a data set name.

Proposal

Change the text to read: "The datSet attribute must contain a valid data set name, or be missing completely. The named data set shall reside in LLN0, like the control block."

Discussion Created Status
In principle accepted. However, from table 27 it should be fully clear that the value is the data set name, and not a full reference as described 7-2. In the mentioned second bullet however the focus is on the meaning of this value instead of the value itself: it is not the identification of a data set, but the reference to a data set! Therefore no change. 22 Mar 13 Not Applicable
