Issue

Trip circuit failure is a very common alarm. In IEC 61850-5 it is described as part of the XCBR function supervision. However in Part 7-4 Ed2 XCBR or SCBR/SOPM I can’t find any of these main/auxiliary circuit alarms/warnings! The SCBR.ColAlm comes close but it does not include the wires from a relay to a circuit breaker.

Proposal

Add a new LN or add new DO's to SCBR

Wires or GOOSE should not matter here. If SCBR.ColAlm is implemented in the circuit breaker, it supervises the wires inside the breaker cabinet. If implemented in the protection relay in the control house, it supervises the wires all the way down to the breaker cabinet.

Note however that ColAlm definition is "If true, the supervision has detected an abnormal state of the coils". That is not specific to the trip coil as for "ColOpn". So I'm not sure of the actual intent of SCBR.ColAlm.

In principle I support this proposal. But I would to extent the function to supervision of all kind of control circuits. Or, if we want to model a special supervision of the trip circuit (because it is the most relevant one) than it could be in the LN PTRC. 25 Feb 13 Discussion (red)
